plein air and more

 Last weekend I went to New Jersey to compete in the Cohansey River plein air. Artists were allowed to turn in two paintings at the end of the day, I did this watercolor on panel at Hancocks Harbor.

My second painting was 12x16 oil on panel of the marsh. Both paintings are at Gallery 50 in Bridgeton, New Jersey, through the end of September. 

back in the studio, I've been painting some beach scenes based on photos I shot in France this summer.

I'm enjoying painting these simple landscapes with figures moving through them, and I think I'll paint a few more. 

Photos from Dinan, France

 Here's a few photos from my painting trip to France! I took each of my painting groups to spend a day in Dinan, a beautiful medieval city on the Rance River. We toured the city in the morning and had a wonderful lunch before walking down to the riverfront to paint in the afternoon.
