New Shows, New Paintings!

I'm thrilled that my painting "Toes in the Sand" is juried into the Fallbrook Art Center's 13th National Signature Exhibit! One of the entry requirements for this show is that artists must be Signature Members of at least one watercolor society. So far, I've earned Signature status in 22 societies, although this is only the second time I've entered (and been accepted!) into this show.

Last weekend I painted live at Winterthur again during the Mixers and Elixers party. It was freezing cold and dark out, so the event was help in the gallery this time. There was a lovely arrangement of dried wildflowers on the gallery wall, which was a wonderful subject to paint.

I'll be at Winterthur again next Friday to paint at the last Mixers and Elixers event of the year. This weekend you'll find me in southern New Jersey, painting in the Cumberland County plein  air event.

I recently received this certificate of Signature Membership from the Philadelphia Watercolor Society. I served on the PWCS Board of Directors for many years and Chaired many positions, so it was a real honor to finally earn this recognition.

I just got this gorgeous purple ribbon from the Miami Watercolor Society -- Best In Show award for my painting "Toes in the Water!" Just being juried into an exhibit is honor enough, but to then get the top award is icing on the cake! I don't get too many purple ribbons -- each one is treasured!

Last month, I taught a one-day online workshop via Zoom -- "Drawing and Painting Trees in Watercolor" for the Salem County Art League. It was a fantastic class! We did an incredible amount of work in this class -- this photo shows my some of my demonstrations for the students. This is actually only HALF of it, as I flipped the paintings over and demonstrated on both sides of the paper during the workshop!

I'm doing another workshop for the SCAL in January, this one will be live, in person (so I can bring art supplies to give away to participants!) and it will be on acrylic painting techniques. Because it is an in-person workshop, everyone is required to bring proof of vaccination and wear a mask correctly at all times.
